Join Anderson’s Bookshop for an author event with Alexis Nikole Nelson, to celebrate the release of Happy Snacking, Don't Die!, on Thursday, September 24th at 7:00 pm at Wentz Concert Hall on the campus of North Central College. Nelson will be in conversation with author Lulu Miller.
Event Format
We will begin checking you in approximately 60 minutes before the start time. After a presentation and Q&A with the author, the photo line will form in numbered order with the following guidelines:
Posed photo with your camera taken by our staff
All books will be pre-signed. Nelson will not be signing anything during the photo line.
All events have open seating. The “Order Line Number” on your pdf ticket is your reserved place in the photo line. You will line up to meet the author based on that number.
If you cannot attend, you must pick up your book (if included with ticket) at the hosting store within 30 days of the event. We can ship that book to you for an additional charge of $9.99; please call the store to arrange that.
Pre-registration is required for this event because space is limited.

Lulu Miller is a Peabody Award-winning science journalist. She is the Co-Host of Radiolab (with the wonderful Latif Nasser). And she is the Creator and Host of Radiolab’s podcast for kids, Terrestrials, all about nature which recently won an honor for best children's media from the American Library Association (ALA). Her book, Why Fish Don’t Exist, is an international bestseller, translated into 16 languages. It was chosen as a Best Book by The Smithsonian, NPR, The Chicago Tribune, Brainpickings, The Washington Post and was a finalist for the LA Times Book Prize and the American Association for the Advancement of Science Book Prize. It has been chosen as required reading for freshmen at many universities including Stanford University, Berea College, Eckerd College.
Her written work has been published in the New Yorker, The Paris Review, VQR and beyond. She reports on a range of scientific topics with a special interest in nature, disability, and mental illness. She serves as a Contributing Advisor to nature magazine Orion and she was the co-founder of NPR’s Invisibilia—a radio show about psychology, emotion, and human behavior. She recently published her debut children’s book, Trucky Roads, about trucks and, you’ll never guess this… roads. She lives in the Chicago area with her wife and three children.
