Adab 102: The Character of the Student of Knowledge - High School Diploma

This semester, our high school diploma students will embark on the study of one of the most celebrated poems on Islamic character and the pursuit of knowledge: The Tā’iyyah of Imām Abū Isḥāq al-Ilbīrī (رحمه الله). Written over nine centuries ago, this timeless poem has continued to shape generations of students by teaching that true success in seeking knowledge is built upon sincerity, humility, discipline, and noble character. Throughout this course, students will carefully study the meanings and lessons of the poem while reflecting on its practical application in their daily lives. Beyond memorization and explanation, the class is designed to cultivate the manners (adab) expected of every Muslim student, respect for teachers, proper intentions, perseverance, humility, self-discipline, and a deep appreciation for sacred knowledge.

By the end of the semester, students will not only gain a deeper understanding of this classical masterpiece but will also develop the character and mindset necessary to become lifelong seekers of knowledge who embody the values of the Qur'an and the Sunnah in both their worship and their interactions with others.
